What is mahj.events?
mahj.events is a web app for organizing American Mahjong games and events. Hosts can create an event, share one RSVP link, manage seats and waitlists, assign tables, and keep their group in sync.
Is mahj.events built specifically for American Mahjong?
Yes. It is designed around American Mahjong details such as four-player tables, substitute lists, recurring groups, and a hand tracker built around the current NMJL card.
Do guests need an account to RSVP?
No. Guests can open the shared event link and RSVP without creating an account.
Is mahj.events free?
The core experience is free and does not require a credit card. Free events remain free. A 5% platform fee applies only to paid events processed through mahj.events.
How do waitlists and substitute lists work?
Hosts can manage confirmed players, substitutes, and a waitlist from the event page. When someone cancels, the next person on the waitlist can be moved into the open seat automatically.
Can mahj.events assign players to tables?
Yes. Hosts set the number of seats and can use automatic table assignments instead of managing a separate spreadsheet.
What does the hand tracker record?
Players can log winning hands against the 2026 NMJL card, review their progress across the season, and see which hands they have not completed yet.
